Cybersecurity Requires Public-Private Cooperation

FBI Director Christopher Wray has described cyber threats as “bigger than the government itself”. Threats come from criminals, hacktivists, insiders and foreign governments (including combinations of these actors).

Wray called for private sector relationships with FBI field offices for help in mitigating cyber exposures as well as breach prevention. His advice can be extended to other federal agencies and state and local law enforcement. As threats continue to get more numerous and complicated, security professionals in the private sector must have government contacts in place before a breach.
