Why You Need A Cyber Audit

I have addressed this before, but a new post by Cyber Security Intelligence once again recommends using an independent IT team to audit your computer systems and cyber security. This is especially important if your organization has recently implemented remote work in place of an office.

It can be a serious mistake for an organization to assume that previous assessments of cyber security are still valid. Technology is developing rapidly, and both attackers and security responses are changing tactics.

Internal auditors often lack experience and can use professional help. An outside audit can set benchmarks and measure what works and what needs improvement. It can recommend technology and process updates, and create a safety culture among employees.

An audit will address the following threats:

  • Careless employees - are they properly trained?
  • Phishing attacks - are they recognized?
  • Weak passwords.
  • Insider threats.
  • Denial of service attacks.
  • Employee devices - are they secure?
  • Malware.

If you haven't had an independent audit, this should be the time to schedule one.
